We’ve all been told that we must be on social media to grow a business. It’s free after all! Better take advantage of it!
But social media is not free. You must spend time creating content for it, posting the content, engaging with followers, reaching out to attract new followers, selling in DMs, or paying someone to do it all for you. All these take time, and time is money. In addition, scrolling on social media often results in comparison or imposter syndrome which leads to fear, doubt, and procrastination.
If you procrastinate, you are losing precious time that you cannot get back. Hours lost that could have been spent creating more meaningful content and reaching your soulmate clients.
In addition, only 7.6% of your audience will see your social media posts. And since Meta has changed its policy to become pay to play platforms, the average organic user will not be able to reach their target audience in enough depth to build financially sustainable businesses.
Similarly, social media is not the best visibility strategy. Levitate Media recently published an article outlining the lifespan of digital content. You will see that social media platforms have the shortest lifespan. But evergreen content on your own platform, such as your blog, is visible for at least two years.
- TikTok: 0-2 minutes
- Twitter: 15-18 minutes
- Facebook: 5-6 hours
- LinkedIn: 24 hours
- Instagram: 48 hours
- YouTube: 20 days
- Pinterest: 4 months
- Blog Posts: 2 years
If you’re feeling disgusted about the time you’ve spent growing your social media accounts with minimal results, I have good news for you!
As you can see in the above list, social media is not the only form of digital marketing and there are more efficient ways to grow your business and achieve sustainable success, SEO being a crucial one.
So, if you don’t like social media, this is your invitation to feel free to focus your content creation strategy on other platforms such as email marketing, your blog, and platforms that you own or will give you more visibility and allow you to better reach your soulmate clients.
